Eight Quarter-Finals Qualifiers Emerged Today

12 teams from around the world vie for the championship
at Tianjin Metropolitan Polo Club

(Tianjin, China, February 7, 2012) - Hosted by the Equestrian Association of China and the Federation of International Polo (FIP), Asia’s first ever “Fortune Heights Snow Polo World Cup 2012” (“Snow Polo World Cup”) saw eight teams remain after six days of competition at the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club (“Metropolitan Polo Club”). The Tournament is drawing a large number of prestigious guests including polo professionals and prominent elites.
There are altogether twelve teams taking part in this year’s tournament and each team’s handicap ranges from 14-16, making this international high-goal tournament one of the largest in the world. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, France, England, Hong Kong, China, India, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa and the USA were all competing to become the first winners of the inaugural Snow Polo World Cup. All are members of the Federation of International Polo (FIP).
“Fortune Heights Snow Polo World Cup 2012” Quarter-Finals
In accordance with the rules of Snow Polo World Cup, the 18 games to compete for the quarter-finals have now been completed, and eight teams will proceed to the quarter-finals for elimination rounds.
After six days of vigorous competition, each team has shown its strengths, but it is the remaining eight teams who now have the chance to win Asia’s very first Snow Polo World Cup.
For the quarter-finalists in Zone 1, England won all three of their qualifying matches, so they go through on top, followed by South Africa in second place. Hong Kong, China goes through in third place, followed by Argentina.
Chile came out on top in Zone 2, closely followed by France. In third place is Australia, which leaves New Zealand as the final team to proceed to the quarter-finals.

Game 14: Hong Kong, China 7 : Argentina 6

The quarter-finals will begin on Thursday February 9.

First Game: England vs New Zealand
Second Game: Hong Kong, China vs France
Third Game: South Africa vs Australia
Fourth Game: Argentina vs Chile


The qualified teams will then proceed to Semi-Finals this coming Saturday on February 11. The champion will emerge in the final, which will be held on Sunday February 12.
