Italy- Italian Player to hold Audience with Pope |
The Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports has organized for a delegation of the teams competing in the European Playoffs to meet Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday, September 28.
In honor of the European Playoffs of the World Polo Championships, set to commence in a few days at the Villa Sesta Polo Club (September 22—October 2), a delegation of all players, coaches, and managers of the national teams involved in the event will be received in a general audience at the Vatican by Pope Benedict XVI.
The audience is scheduled for the morning of September 28 and is reserved for members of the teams facing off to determine which two nations will compete in the final phase of the World Polo Championships, scheduled for October 10-22 in San Luis, Argentina.
The Prefect of the Papal Household monsignor James Michael Harvey wishes to extend this honor to FISE and Federal President Andrea Paulgross, who will lead the international delegation to the Vatican. It is the first time in the history of the sport that a similar event takes place during an International Federation of Polo (FIP) tournament.
Even beyond the importance of the audience, which confirms the skill and attention to detail of the Italian entities who organized the tournament , this meeting with the Holy Father will undoubtedly make the event memorable for all those who participate.
