IX World Polo Championships – 2011 European Playoffs:
FISE and FIP enter the playing field together with VAS Polo Club

Bucine (AR)  – Italy, France, Holland, Germany and England will be competing in the upcoming 2011 European Polo Playoffs-Zone C in order to gain access to the IX World Polo Championships.

FISE President Andrea Paulgross recently convoked the players who constitute the Italian national team.

The team roster includes ten players. In accordance with regulations, each player has a handicap between 1 and 5 goals, depending on skill level. The following list presents the names and individual handicaps of each player on the Italian team.

The Italian National Team will face the other European teams in a 14-handicap goal tournament which will determine the two teams that qualify for the final phase of the World Championships. The Championship matches will be held October 10-22 in San Luis, Argentina. During this event, the two qualified teams from Europe will play against the other teams which have already qualified: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, the United States, India, Pakistan, and Australia.

The teams are currently attending a training camp to best prepare both horses and athletes for the challenging competition.

The event presents the Italian public with a chance to learn more about the game of polo in an entirely new context. Spectators will discover a sport based on discipline and passion, love of nature and horses, team play, and cooperation. Entrance to the matches will be free of charge; viewers will be allowed to relax and enjoy the event in specially designated public areas. 

Matches will be broadcast live on RAI SPORT.

August 31- Arezzo – Sala dei Grandi –11.30 AM: Introductory press conference – In collaboration with the Province of Arezzo.

September 3 – Arezzo Equestrian Centre – during the European Style 2011 event: bracket drawing for teams in the  2011 European Playoffs at VAS Polo Club and on-field exhibition.

September 23  – Siena, Piazza del Campo – procession and official presentation of the six National teams competing at VAS Polo Club from September 22 to October 2, 2011.
