The 20-goal USPA Joe Barry Memorial Cup was expected to be a close and exciting game between Lucchese and Coca-Cola, and it definitely delivered on its promise, giving spectators a spectacular polo game. Coca-Cola kept the lead from the beginning of the game through the 4th but only by 1-2 goals, until Santi Torres scored for Lucchese, tying the game 8-8.

Ali Albwardy owner of Desert Palm Dubai, flew in the three top players in the world
to play in the Royal Salute U.A.E.Nations Cup 2012,Adolfo Cambiaso, Pablo Mac Donough, and Juan Martin Nero,who had just won the Argentine Open 2011 with Adolfo,s team La Dolfina Dubai winning by an unprecedented 16-10.
Adolfo Cambiaso led Ali Albwardy,s U.A.E.team to a narrow 6-5 victory over Hungary in the final of the 4th Royal Salute U.A.E. Nations Cup,played at Desert Palm Dubai on 13th January.
U.A.E and Hungary had faced each other in the final last year,when U.A.E. was victorious by one goal.
This time the U.A.E dominated the first half which ended 4-2 in its favour, but then excellent work by Hungary,s Martin Valent who is also Desert Palm,s Polo Manager-and team mates Matias Machado and Matias Pededa saw the score equalise at 5-5 in the last minute of the game.
The possiblity of extra time and a golden goal was avoided when Cambiaso sent in the decider with seconds to go.
Six teams had entered the week long tournament,U.A.E, Brunei,Great Britian, Hungary, Pakistan and Rest of the World.
Most Valuable player of the Tournament was 18 year old Rashid Bin Drai,who played for
The Rest of the World, winners of Landrover Al Tayer Motors Trophy in third place.
Best playing Pony was Chanaquita ridden by Cambiaso.The Duke of Argyll ambassador for Royal Salute the main sponsors presented the trophies and prizes.
In an Exhibtion match the day after the finals Richard Mille beat Dubai in the Seddiqui Polo Cahallenge 5-3.
