Great loss for the Polo Community.

Princess AyeshaThis is a very sad day for the polo community. We mourn the death of H.H.Maharni Gayatri Devi, well known as Princess Ayesha.

She was married to Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, first 10 goal player in India, winner of high goal tournaments in England and a great promoter of Polo worldwide.

Statement from USPA Exec. Dir. on News Reports of Florida Pharmacy Admission of Error in the Medicine Dispensed to the Horses who died on Sunday

April 23, 2009 – Lexington, KY. Peter Rizzo, Executive Director of the United States Polo Association (USPA), issued the following statement about the news reports about the Ocala Franck’s pharmacy internal report findings:

“The news reports of the pharmacy admitting to wrongly preparing the medicine before last Sunday’s match is very disheartening. We have all suffered a terrible loss.”

“Today we come together to celebrate our sport with our championship matches and tonight we will come together again to mourn our fallen ponies in a memorial service.”

“We will continue to work with all the authorities to get to the bottom of this tragedy and determine definitively what happened to the horses in this isolated and unprecedented event.”

 

 

 
New Member Association Joins FIP

Slovak Polo AssociationWe are proud to announce that Slovak Polo Association has recently joined FIP as a full member. Ist POLO KLUB BRATISLAVA 1888.

The year 2007 is an outstanding landmark in the history of polo played on the territory of today’s Slovakia. Ist Polo Klub Bratislava 1888 follows tradition of games from Austro-Hungarian time, when basis of this sport were laid in Vienna by the prince Otto Windisch-Graetz, prince Vinzenz Auersperg, count Ferdinand Kinsky and count Gizycki on 23rd October, 1910 by foundation of the first „Reit- und Polo-Klub in Vienna“ .

Argentina - Modifications to Handicap 2008

Juan Martin NeroWith Juan Martín Nero as the new 10-goaler, two teams have reached 40-goals for the first time: La Dolfina and Ellerstina. The Palermo champions become the fifth team to get the perfect handicap, next to Coronel Suarez, La Espadaña, Indios Chapaleufu II and La Dolfina.
Among the most important raises are Agustin Garcia Grossi, Hilario Ulloa, David Stirling e Ignacio Toccalino, all from 7 to 8.

Meanwhile, Bautista and Ignacio Heguy have been lowered from 10 to 9, and Matias MacDonough and Alberto Heguy Jr. from 9 to 8.

Brian Morrison has died after two years in a coma.

brian_morrison.jpgBryan Morrison, owner of the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, died on Friday 26 September, after being in a coma since 2006.


The music mogul and former Pink Floyd manager had been in a coma since July 2006. Morrison lapsed into a coma after his pony stumbled during a match at The Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, which he co-founded in1985.

Bryan is survived by his wife Greta, and children Jamie and Karina.
