Ham Polo Club August 8th 2010
Federico Potovsky led Thai-based Kuppa Polo Escape to an 8.5-8 victory over Shalimar in the latest edition of the Dubai Polo Trophy at Ham Polo Club on 8 August.
Kuppa, who had been runners-up last year, received a goal and a half on handicap but it was by no means certain that they would win.
In the final chukka, Shalimar, based around Pakistan's top player, Hissam Ali Hyder, were ahead, 8-6.5 but Potovsky pulled all out the stops to cruise to victory.
In the subsidiary final, Nashama, led by 14-tear-old Faisal Al-Rifai - the world's youngest polo patron - defeated Mad Dogs, 7-5. The Mad Dogs line-up included Ariel Tapia, who is Argentina's leading exponent of the game of pato. A total of six teams entered this year's tournament.
