Au Polo de Paris, Jeudi 18 juin 2009

L’excellence avait rendez-vous au Polo de Paris jeudi 18 juin à l’occasion du Hublot The Perfect Polo Match. Pour la première fois en Europe, Paris accueillait l’élite mondiale du polo pour une joute alliant élégance, fougue et combativité.

Tenant en main leur précieux sésame, les invités se pressaient à Bagatelle en cette fin d’après-midi ensoleillée.
Parmi les élégantes, on pouvait apercevoir en tête Sophie Thalmann et son mari le célèbre jockey Christophe Soumillon, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor et Alexandra Baldeh, Gérard Holtz venu en famille, Maïtena Biraben, Guy Savoy, Vahina Giocante, Linda Lacoste, Laura Ténoudji (Laura du Web sur Télématin), la comédienne Delphine de Turckheim, Stéphane Plaza (M6), Alexandre Carré (Direct 8), Mouss Diouf, Philippe Fatien et sa femme, Xavier Brunet, Tony Gomez, Laurent Bruneteau (Equidia)…

Tous profitaient du cadre très prisé du Polo de Paris, vitrine emblématique du polo en France. Soudain, les discussions cessèrent à l’annonce des noms de chacun les dix meilleurs joueurs mondiaux, tous de nationalité argentine.
En grand connaisseur, Ignacio Archain de La Martina qui habillait de leurs magnifiques polos les joueurs, expliquait à quelques convives les règles de ce jeu ancestral. Balles et maillets se sont entrechoqués en un ballet esthétique et féérique à l’ombre de la Tour Eiffel. Nobles et gracieux, les cavaliers et leurs montures ont bataillé durant 6 « chukkers » (périodes), de 7 minutes chacun.


Ce match émerveilla aussi bien les férus que les néophytes, conscients d’assister à un match d’une perfection rarissime.

Lors de la remise des prix, tous les joueurs ont reçu des « Maté » réalisés spécialement pour cet évènement par l’artiste Juan Carlos Pallarols. Les vainqueurs ont également été gratifiés  d’une magnifique montre Hublot et le meilleur buteur de la partie, Facundo Pieres, s’est vu offrir un sac en cuir La Martina, pièce unique réalisée spécialement pour l’évènement.

Après la remise des prix par Sophie Thalmann, Philippe Fatien et sa femme et l’ambassadeur d’Argentine monsieur Luis Ureta, les invités assistèrent à « Polo & Arts », ambitieuse initiative qui réunit l’art, le sport et la solidarité. Cette vente aux enchères dirigée par Maître Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr permit de récolter environ 30 000 € pour la Fondation de l’hôpital « Fernandez » de Buenos Aires, grâce à la vente de sculptures de chevaux de polo, réalisées par des artistes comme Martiniano Arce, Eduardo Pla et Nora Iniesta.

Unique, exceptionnel, sublime, inégalable… Les adjectifs ne manquaient pas ce jour-là pour définir le Hublot The Perfect Polo Match qui restera gravé dans les mémoires pour longtemps !

This great event took place at the “Polo de Paris” on Thursday, June 18th, thanks to “Hublot The Perfect Polo Match”. For the first time in Europe, Paris received the polo world elite in an event that joined elegance, passion and competence.

With their priceless tickets in hand, the guests arrived in Bagatelle during an almost-finished sunny afternoon. Among the celebrities, the most highlighted ones were Sophie Thalmann together with her husband, the famous horseman Christophe Soumillon, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor and Alexandra Baldeh,  Gérard Holtz together with his family,  Maïtena Biraben, Guy Savoy,  Vahina Giocante,  Linda Lacoste,  Laura Ténoudji (Laura from the web in the “Télématin”),  the comedienne Delphine de Turckheim,  Stéphane Plaza (from M6),  Alexandre Carré (from Direct 8),  Mouss Diouf, Philippe Fatien and his wife,  Xavier Brunet, Tony Gomez,  Laurent Bruneteau (from Equidia)…

Everyone enjoyed the valuable environment of the Polo de Paris, a symbolic showcase of the polo in France. Suddenly, a deep silence aroused when the names of each one of the ten best players in the world were announced, all of them Argentinean. The expert, Ignacio Archain from La Martina, who dressed the players with his wonderful t-shirts, explained the rules of this ancient game to some of the guests. Balls and mallets crashed in a magical and beautiful ballet under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. The noble and skilful horsemen, together with their saddles, gave battle during 6 chukkers (periods) of 7 minutes each. This meeting amazed both passionate followers and novices, all of them well aware of the supreme perfection of this match they were attending.

At the time of the awards ceremony, all the players received “mates” created specially for this event by the artist Juan Carlos Pallarols. The winners were also rewarded with a magnificent Hublot watch, and the player who scored more goals, Facundo Pieres, received a leather jacket La Martina, unique piece specially designed for this event.

After the award ceremony presented by Sophie Thalmann, Philippe Fatien together with his wife, and the Argentina ambassador, Luis Ureta, the guests attended to “Polo & Arts”, ambitious initiative that joined art, sports and charity. This auction, managed by Maître Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr, allowed to collect around € 30 000 for the foundation of the “Hospital Fernandez” in Buenos Aires , thanks to the sale of polo horses sculptures created by artists such as Martiniano Arce, Eduardo Pla and Nora Iniesta.

Unique, exceptional, sublime, incomparable… Those were the adjectives that didn’t miss that day to define the “Hublot Perfect Polo Match”, which will be engraved in our memory for a long time!
