It is with the deepest regret that we announce the sad passing of Mr. Marcos Uranga on Thursday April 8th.
Marcos had an illustrious career in polo; He was President of the Asociacion Argentina de Polo from 1983 to 1987 and founded FIP in 1982 alongside other luminaries such as Don Alfonso Rosas, Camilo Aldao, Eduardo Huergo, Glen Holden and many others keen to improve international polo relations. He served as FIP’s President until 1997 and alongside Glen Holden was the instigator and creator of the FIP World Polo Championship.
Son of Susana Rey and Carlos, he was born in 1936 and married to Silvia Rueda, he is the father of a big polo family that includes 7 children: Valeria, Marcos (h), Delfin, Paula, Diego, Juan and Mariano and grandfather to over 20 grandchildren.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends throughout the world all of whom who encountered his affability, simplicity, generous hospitality and deep sense of friendship, a true gentleman of our sport.
