128th Ambassador’s Cup: Eleven Years of Partnership with La Ensenada

The 128th edition of the Ambassador’s Cup began with strong energy and an international spirit at La Ensenada Polo Club, marking the final event of the Fédération Internationale de Polo’s annual calendar. Despite the unfortunate cancellation of the final day of play due to heavy rain, the tournament continued its tradition of bringing together players from diverse polo cultures around the world.
In place of the closing matches, FIP President Piero Dillier and Ambassador’s Cup Committee member Ricardo Mihanovich gathered with players and guests at the La Ensenada stand in the Campo Argentino de Polo to honour Ernesto Gutiérrez, owner of La Ensenada and longstanding host of the Ambassador’s Cup.
Mr Gutierrez received a special award acknowledging over a decade of continuous support to FIP. His commitment has helped establish La Ensenada as a pillar of the international FIP circuit, offering exceptional fields, warm hospitality, and a venue that elevates the experience for teams and spectators alike.
The competition kicked off with two dynamic days of play. La Ensenada secured two victories, while Lima Polo achieved a win and a draw. La Calera drew on Friday and won on Saturday, and Costa Rica bounced back from an initial loss to claim a Saturday victory.
Teams representing Argentina, the United States, Peru, Germany, Brazil, Colombia, France, Spain, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Australia, and Poland contributed to the tournament’s global identity.
The traditional “Seventh Chukker” brought players and guests together beside the field to share drinks and conversations, embodying the Ambassador’s Cup’s social and cultural spirit.
