130th FIP Ambassador’s Cup in Querétaro, Mexico

The 130th FIP Ambassador’s Cup was held at Viñedos del Polo, in El Marqués, Querétaro, Mexico, bringing together players from nine different nationalities for a weekend of polo, friendship, and international camaraderie.

The tournament once again reflected the spirit of the FIP Ambassador’s Cup, an event built around competition, hospitality, and the shared passion for polo among players from around the world. This edition featured six teams with participants from Argentina, the United States, Russia, Iran, France, Costa Rica, and Mexico, in an atmosphere that combined sport, tradition, and the warmth of Mexican hospitality.

After a highly competitive tournament, Tulum Polo Team emerged as champion of the 130th FIP Ambassador’s Cup. The team, formed by Robert Payne, Mehrdad Bajai, Juan Córdoba, and Rodrigo de los Cobos, claimed the title after a spectacular final against Monte Albán Polo Team.

The final ended tied 8-8 in regulation time and was decided by a penalty shootout, giving Tulum Polo Team a memorable victory in Querétaro.

The participating teams were:

Palenque Polo Team: Ignacio Uranga, Vladimir Rivkin, Rogelio Igartua, María Calzada

Monte Albán Polo Team: Víctor Setien, Víctor Wolf, Mario Calzada, Cristóbal Morandé

Teotihuacán Polo Team: Javier Uranga, Miguel Calzada, Horacio Areco, Héctor Anaya

Chichén Itzá Polo Team: Francisco Uranga, Rogelio Sada, Ade Adedeji, Ricardo Coss

Tulum Polo Team: Robert Payne, Mehrdad Bajai, Juan Córdoba, Rodrigo de los Cobos

Uxmal Polo Team: Hugo Villalobos, Lauren Desmas, Luis Guerrero, Humberto Sánchez

Throughout the weekend, players and guests also enjoyed traditional experiences from Querétaro, organized by the Calzada family, adding a strong cultural and social dimension to the tournament.
