The 2025 FIP General Assembly took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, gathering representatives from all regions of the polo world both in person and virtually. The Assembly opened with the election and ratification of FIP authorities, reaffirming the leadership responsible for guiding the Federation’s strategic development and international activities.
The session offered a comprehensive review of an exceptional 2025 season. Among the key highlights was the II FIP Arena World Polo Championship, successfully hosted in Virginia at Roseland Farm and the University of Virginia. This edition underscored the rising profile of arena polo and its growing competitive structure worldwide.
Delegates also revisited the XV FIP European Polo Championship, played at Sowiniec Polo Club in Poland. The tournament delivered a high level of competition and reaffirmed Europe’s increasing relevance within the global polo landscape.
The Assembly reflected on the expansion and diplomatic value of the Ambassador’s Polo Cup, staged in Argentina, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Brazil, Peru, the United States, and Paraguay. This series continues to strengthen international collaboration, sporting exchange, and cultural ties among participating nations.
Another important topic was the progress of the IOC Development Fund, which in 2025 supported programs in Argentina, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Egypt, Mexico, and Uruguay. These initiatives exemplify FIP’s commitment to fostering growth, accessibility, and long-term sustainability for polo worldwide.
Members also attended a presentation from J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of U.S. Polo Assn., a steadfast partner and sponsor of the Federation for more than a decade. His remarks emphasized the brand’s global support for polo and its alignment with FIP’s mission.
Before concluding, the Assembly paid a heartfelt tribute to Estuardo “Tayo” Masias, Founder Ambassador, and Manuel Ugarte, Ambassador at Large — two figures who passed away this year and whose long-standing dedication significantly contributed to the development and international reach of the Federation of International Polo.
With renewed commitment and collaborative spirit, the Federation now looks ahead to 2026, a year that will include major global milestones such as the XIII World Polo Championship.
